Privacy Policy

Last updated 26 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information iHarande collects when you use our website and mobile apps, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using iHarande you agree to this policy and our Terms of Use.

1. Who we are

iHarande ("iHarande", "we", "us") runs an online learning platform at iharande.com and in the iHarande mobile apps for Android and iOS (together, the "Service"). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at support@iharande.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your first and last name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), and, if you choose, a phone number, a short bio and a profile photo. Each account also gets a student ID.
  • Instructor applications: what you plan to teach and your experience, if you apply to teach.
  • Certificate requests: the full name to print on the certificate, phone number, date of birth, address and country, and your exam schedule and results.
  • Content you post: course discussion posts and replies, and, for instructors, course material you upload.
  • Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.

Information created when you use the Service

  • Learning activity: courses you enrol in, lessons completed and progress, quiz answers and scores, bookmarks and certificates issued to you.
  • Subscriptions and payments: your plan, trial and renewal dates, and for each payment its amount, reference and status. Payments are processed by Paystack: we never see or store your full card number, PIN or bank login. From Paystack we keep only the card brand, its last four digits and the codes needed to manage a recurring subscription.
  • Devices and sign-in: a device identifier and device name, the browser or app version (user agent), the IP address used to sign in, and when each device was last used. We use these to keep your account secure and to apply the limit on how many devices a student account can use at once.
  • Technical logs: our servers record requests and errors (including IP addresses) to keep the Service running and secure.

We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data, and the apps contain no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and run your account, sign you in and keep it secure (including verification codes, device limits and fraud prevention).
  • To provide courses, track your progress, grade quizzes and run course discussions.
  • To take payments, manage trials and subscriptions, and send receipts and renewal reminders.
  • To review certificate requests, schedule exams, issue certificates and let others verify them.
  • To send service messages by email and in-app notifications, such as verification codes, payment confirmations and changes to your plan.
  • To answer your questions, fix problems and improve the Service.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations and to enforce our Terms of Use.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to run the Service:

  • Paystack, to process card and bank transfer payments and recurring subscriptions.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts the website and stores uploaded files such as profile photos, course material and certificates.
  • DigitalOcean, which hosts our servers and database.
  • Our email delivery provider, to send verification codes, receipts and other service emails.

Some information is visible to others by design: your name and posts are visible to other learners in a course discussion; an instructor's name, photo and bio appear on their courses; and anyone with a certificate's verification code can see the holder's name, the course and the issue date. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. We never sell personal information.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove your name, email address, phone number, bio and profile photo and sign you out on every device. We keep payment records for as long as tax and accounting laws require, and records of certificates we have issued so that they can still be verified. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

7. Your rights and choices

You can:

  • see and correct your profile at any time in Settings (website) or Account (app);
  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct, restrict or delete it, or object to how we use it;
  • turn off auto-renewal of a subscription at any time.

To use these rights, email support@iharande.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

8. Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time: email support@iharande.com from the address on your account with the subject "Delete my account". We confirm the request and delete the account within 30 days, as described under "How long we keep it". Deleting your account ends access to any remaining subscription time and to your certificates in the app.

9. Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, signed time-limited links for uploads and private files, access controls, and limits on sign-in attempts and devices. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password and tell us at support@iharande.com if you suspect your account has been misused.

10. Cookies, device storage and app permissions

The website stores your sign-in session and a device identifier in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in; we do not use advertising cookies. The mobile apps store the same in secure storage on your device. The apps ask for access to your photos or camera only when you choose to upload a profile picture; you can change this in your device settings.

11. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Learners under 18 should use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International transfers

Our service providers may store or process information outside Nigeria. When they do, we rely on their contractual and security commitments to protect it as this policy describes.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app.
